BBQ Sauce

In the winter, it is normal to crave heavier foods.  That being said, I am experimenting with marinades and sauces for chicken and turkey.

I visited my father last weekend in East Texas.  He made beef ribs one night.  They were awesome (and totally not acceptable as far as diet is concerned, but I digress).  He used Sweet Baby Ray's Raspberry Chipotle sauce.  OMG, it is good!

I bought some for myself and marinated a turkey breast in it. It was very good....for lean meat.

Freshly Laundered Sheets

I've noticed that I sleep more soundly when my sheets are freshly laundered.  Interesting.  If I wasn't so lazy, I would wash my sheets twice a week, instead of just once.

After I wash my sheets, I can get about 2-3 nights of better sleep than nights when my sheets aren't as fresh.  Don't get me wrong, I sleep really well every night, but even better on clean and crisp sheets.

I try really hard to appreciate and recognize my clean sheets.  Sliding into fresh sheets is a perfect way to end the day.

Now, I need to start washing sheets on a day other than Sunday, because I almost always oversleep on Monday.

New Beginnings

Well, October was a hard month, for me.  I was forcing myself to make decisions that honestly didn't need to be made.  It stressed me out.

STRESS = BAD EATING DECISIONS

October brought a car trip, mini-vacation, celebrations, Halloween candy, too many desserts, change of routine, etc.

ABC = All Bites Count!!!

Well, it has caught up with me.  I went out of town last weekend and realized that my clothes were TIGHT!  Ruh-roh!!

Being away from home (a long car trip) gives me space to analyze my life a little bit.  I have a new game plan on how to shed these extra lbs.

You might ask, how can an exercise instructor gain weight?  Well, as it has been said, 80% of weight loss is diet.  You can work out a lot, but if the diet is out-of-whack, it will slowly catch up with you.

Today was the start of my new beginning.  I look forward to seeing my upcoming hard work pay off.

The point of this post is NOT my pudginess, but creating space and time in your every day life to pinpoint which areas of your life need tweaking and create a plan on how to address them.  Oftentimes when we are caught up in the minutia of our day/lives, we can't objectively recognize what we want to change.  Creating space for yourself, whether it be "alone" time or a trip, etc., can give you the space you need.

More on this topic in a future post.

Think about it.

Jasmine Tea

I love Jasmine Tea.  My friend Anne introduced me to the bottled Jasmine Green tea, purchased at Whole Foods.  It is great.  I also bought Jasmine tea bags from a Chinese market.

For some illogical reason, I like to think that it is really healthy to drink it.  Not sure why, but I am sticking with it.
